Weekly update

April 12, 2024

Dear Parents, Staff, and Families of SAU 90:

This week at the Southeasters Superintendent’s Meeting, we discussed the importance of districts working together as we continue to expand our safety plans and protocols.  There will be times when it will be important for us to lean on each other during times of crisis, and having support from neighboring districts will be instrumental.  We are looking at regionalized training specifically supported by the National Center for School Safety and developing a Seacoast Crisis Response Team which will take place in May.  We recognize the need to work together in this endeavor as we continue to enhance our district safety plans.  Our schools’ physical and social emotionally safety is central to our daily work and continues to be our greatest priority.

We are excited to launch the second event of the SAU 90 Parent Partnership Project...a family night out for children and adults on next Thursday, April 18th at the Marston School from 6:00-7:30. Parents/caregivers will discuss, learn, and share how to build guidelines, routines, and strategies during the day’s biggest transitions-the before and after school rush!  You will also receive a free Transition Toolkit.  Children will participate in Play Club- crafts, Legos, board games and jewelry-making. Please register as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly. A pizza dinner is provided for all. Registration Link  .

This coming Tuesday, the PTA meets in the Community Room at Hampton Academy at 5:00 PM. These meetings typically last approximately an hour and are informative, productive opportunities for collaboration between our families and the schools. At this time, there are many open positions that will need to be filled for next year. We hope you will consider these critical postings and support this wonderful organization which benefits our students and schools.

This week, I had the pleasure of spending some time with the Marston students and staff.  It has been a wonderful week of learning beginning with the Solar Eclipse on Monday, Girls on the Run, Weather Presentation, Math Games before school, a visit from Officer Whitehead and Corporal Icky, a Conservation Presentation, a field trip to the Boston Museum of Science, and our Wax Museum.  Be sure to check out our Facebook post, which features our Marston students and staff.

This week at our School Board Meeting, it was announced that the students’ final day of school will be Wednesday, June 12 and staff’s final day will be Friday, June 14.  Students will have an early release, with Hampton Academy releasing at 11:30 AM and Centre School and Marston School releasing at 12:00 noon.  Also, for your planning purposes, the final assembly for our eighth graders will take place on Tuesday, June 11, at 6:00 PM at Hampton Academy.

We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting Camp Invention this summer!  Special thanks to Miss Julie Elwood who has stepped up to be our Assistant Director.  This program is for students in grades K-6 and will be offered at Marston School from June 24-28.  This program does fill up quickly.  So please be sure to secure your spot as soon as possible.

In partnership,

Dr. Lois B. Costa

Superintendent
