Weekly Update

Dear Parents, Staff, and Families of SAU 90:

Our Hampton Academy teams are gearing up for their spring season.  Over 200 students will be participating in softball, baseball, and track and field.  Students are busy preparing for the season.  There is certainly a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and spirit on the fields during these spring days.  Now, if only the warm, sunny weather would arrive…. Go Sharks!

It has been a very exciting week at Hampton Academy, where I have been spending some time at assemblies, events, and classrooms.  Earlier this week, on Tuesday night, Winnacunnet High School hosted the SAU 21 & 90 Band and Choral Festival Concert.  Band and chorus members from Hampton Academy, Lincoln Akerman School, North Hampton School, Seabrook Middle School, and Winnacunnet High School came together in song and harmony for a wonderful evening!  Please be sure to check out our Facebook page for more highlights!

The New Hampshire Department of Education is partnering with New Hampshire camps and school-age summer programs across the state to offer students the unique opportunity to attend camp and be a kid again. Students of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities benefit from exposure to short-term summer enrichment programs, including in the areas of challenge, friend-making, positivity, and emotional safety. These are all things that New Hampshire camps and school-age programs do best.  A link is provided below for your information and reference.   Summer Camp, Rekindling Curiosity: https://rekindlingcuriosityeducation.nh.gov/

On Thursday of this week, I had the opportunity to meet with Stacey Morse, Location Manager from First Student Inc, our bus company.  She shared that the bus drivers are seeing an increase in physical, disruptive behaviors, including students moving out of their seats when the bus is moving.  In our efforts to ensure the safety of all students, we kindly ask that you review our bus expectations and rules, which include:

  1. Follow the driver’s instructions.

  2. Do not eat, drink, or smoke on the bus.

  3. Keep all harmful materials (drugs, tobacco, alcohol, weapons, etc.) off the bus.

  4. Keep all parts of your body and all objects to yourself and inside the bus.

  5. Keep the noise level down and remain seated facing forward.

  6. Keep the aisles clear and do not litter, write on, or damage the bus.

Riding the bus is an extension of classrooms; therefore, failure to abide by bus expectations can result in loss of riding privileges.  The safety of everyone is contingent upon everyone doing their part.
