weekly update

June 17, 2022

Dear SAU 90 Staff and Families,

It is with great pride that our school year comes to an end today.  What a wonderful week we have had with our students, families, and community.  Last Friday, I had the pleasure of attending the Winnacunnet High School Graduation.  It was thrilling to see that seven of the top ten graduates were from the Hampton School District, along with the senior class president, historian, and the student council vice-president.  What a wonderful evening for our community!  Last night, we held our Final Assembly for our eighth graders at Hampton Academy. Early in the day, we hosted our Fifth Grade Farewell at Marston School.  These culminating milestones allowed us the opportunity to celebrate our students, thank our staff and families, and recognize the hard work that went into this past year.  Our sincere gratitude to all of our families and staff for their continued support this year. It takes a village…and I am proud that mine is Hampton!

This past week at our school board meeting, we recognized seven of our outstanding educators who will be retiring at the end of the school year. These amazing educators have 150 years combined of service to the Hampton School District. They leave behind a legacy of students, parents, and colleagues who they have all positively impacted during this time. We wish them all the best as they move forward and enter retirement. These staff members include: Hilary Skovron, Speech Language Pathologist from Marston; Michele Croteau, Third Grade Teacher from Marston; Elizabeth Cronin, Target Assist Teacher from Marston; Judy Sullivan, Case Manager from Marston; Karen Brand, School Nurse from Hampton Academy; Sean Tierney, Science Teacher from Hampton Academy; and Principal David O’Connor from Hampton Academy. We thank them for their years of service and congratulate them on their successful tenure in our district.

On behalf of the district, I wish you all a wonderful, well-deserved summer.  May it be filled with happy memories, time at our beautiful beaches, and good health.  Our district is open daily from 8 AM – 2:00 PM, Monday – Thursday, and 8 AM – 12 noon on Friday.  If you need anything at all, please feel free to reach out to your child’s principal or me.  Also, names for next year’s teachers will be released in August.  Be on the lookout for that information.  In closing, please mark your calendar! School begins on Tuesday, August 31.  Meet the Teacher will be on Monday, August 30 and there will be a family barbecue that afternoon from 2:30 – 4:30 PM at Hampton Academy.  Everyone is welcome!

Warmly, Dr. Lois B. Costa
