Weekly Update

April 1, 2022 (no fooling ☺)

Dear Parents, Staff, and Families of SAU 90:

Our Hampton Academy teams are gearing up for their spring season.  Over 100 students are participating in softball, baseball, and track and field.  Students were taking full advantage of the warmer temperatures this week with practices held after school.  I had the opportunity to stop by and check in on Thursday.  There was certainly a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and spirit on the fields that day.  Go Sharks!

A reminder that the PTA meets on the third Tuesday of the month at Hampton Academy Library/Media Center starting at 7:00 PM and also streaming live on Facebook.  These meetings typically last approximately an hour and are informative, productive opportunities for collaboration between our families and the schools.  At this time, there are a number of open positions that will need to be filled for next year including treasurer, communications, fundraising, secretary, and membership.  We hope you will consider these critical postings that support this wonderful organization that benefits our students and schools.  Please be sure to mark your calendars as the Hampton PTA will be hosting Casino Night from April 30 to May 6.  On May 4, there will be a special Event Night where there will be gift baskets and raffles.  Remember, a portion of the proceeds are given back to our schools!  Additionally, there will be some upcoming spring events including a picnic dinner at Tuck Field on June 4 with June 5 set as the rain date.  Look for more information coming soon! The next PTA Meeting is on April 19.

All schools and students are acclimating nicely to their new lunchtime routines.  This allows our students the opportunity to have lunch in social circles while enjoying time with their peers.  Be sure to check out this week’s Shark News which features our students’ thoughts and opinions regarding these changes at the middle school.

Nicole Fogarty, child care registrar from the Southern District YMCA, is currently recruiting staff for an on-site program.  We are hoping that staff and parents might consider applying or assisting with this before and after-school daycare.  We the community’s help, and we are hopeful that we can continue to provide quality daycare for our families.  Please see the attached link for more information. https://www.sdymca.org/work-for-the-y

In closing, we are asking that all families, staff, and community members complete the 603 Bright Futures Survey from the Department of Education.  This annual survey will help to ensure our schools are providing high-quality, rigorous learning experiences.  Your input and feedback are crucial and will help to guide our efforts to improve our schools.  Thank you in advance…

Kind regards,

Dr. Lois B. Costa

Superintendent
