Weekly Update

March 25, 2022

Dear Parents, Staff, and Families of SAU 90:

Spring has arrived and what a busy week it has been in our schools.  Thank you to everyone who supported our aspiring actors and thespians while attending the theater in Hampton last weekend.  Whether you attended the play at Hampton Academy or Winnacunnet High School, we are sure you enjoyed a wonderful performance by our talented students.

On Tuesday after school, Hampton Academy had the top fifteen students participate in their annual oratorical presentations to the community.  It was an honor and privilege to attend this event.  Congratulations to all of our students.  It takes great courage to stand and deliver a personal essay based on your research, beliefs, and passion.  You all should feel very proud as this is truly a testament to your convictions.  Special thanks to Ms. Judith Clark and Mr. Jim Doherty for helping to coordinate this program.  Additionally, we appreciate the support of our judges form the Hampton Rotary who also attended and had a very difficult decision to make.  We look forward to sharing more at the upcoming school board meeting on April 12.

On Monday, March 21, report cards were issued to all students.  Should you need any assistance logging in or accessing PowerSchool, please be sure to reach out to our Data Specialist, Mr. Tim Smith.  He can be reached at 603-926-4560 or tsmith@sau90.org.  This past Wednesday, March 23, parents had the opportunity to meet with classroom teachers and staff to discuss their child’s progress.  Remember, should you have questions at any time, please be sure to reach out to your child’s teacher or school.  We are all here to ensure your child’s success!  We value the partnership with our parents on behalf of our beloved students.

All schools are currently transitioning their cafeterias to lunchtime spaces.  This will allow our students the opportunity to have lunch in social circles and enjoy this time with their peers.  We thank our Facilities Manager, Keith Lessard and his staff for helping to transition these spaces last weekend.  Students at Centre and Marston School participated in lunchroom orientations this past week in preparation for lunches with their classmates.  We are excited to see these changes in our buildings next week.

Nicole Fogarty, child care registrar from the Southern District YMCA, is currently recruiting staff for an on-site program.  We are hoping that staff and parents might consider applying or assisting with this before and after-school daycare.  With the community’s help, we are hopeful that we can continue to provide quality daycare for our families.  Please see the attached link for more information. https://www.sdymca.org/work-for-the-y

In closing, we are asking that all families, staff, and community members complete the 603 Bright Futures Survey from the Department of Education.  This annual survey will help to ensure our schools are providing high-quality, rigorous learning experiences.  Your input and feedback are crucial and will help to guide our efforts to improve our schools.  Thank you in advance…

Enjoy the first weekend of spring and here’s to warmer days ahead…

In partnership,

Dr. Lois B. Costa
