Weekly Update

March 11, 2022

Dear Parents, Staff, and Families of SAU 90:

Today marks the end of the second trimester.  On Monday, March 21, report cards will be issued to all students.  On Wednesday, March 23, parents will have the opportunity to meet with classroom teachers and staff to discuss their child’s progress.  You will be receiving notification from the schools shortly about this upcoming event.

We are pleased to let you know that on Tuesday during the town elections, the Hampton voters passed all warrant articles related to the school district.  We are thankful for the support from our community and appreciate the positive affirmation in support of our schools, children, and staff. We recognize the challenges that have fallen on communities in the past two years, and look forward to our continued work ahead.  We welcome this opportunity to work with all stakeholders and constituents on behalf of our students.  As always, if you have questions, or concerns, please be sure to reach out to us.

We wish to thank the many parents, staff, and community members that completed the survey posted prior to the break surrounding ESSER Funds.  These federal funds are used to support learning loss and challenges related to COVID-19.  Your input is greatly appreciated and valued.  During the upcoming school board meeting, we will continue to discuss this topic and are open to your suggestions and feedback.  Thank you once again for your input.

As you are now aware, the Center for Disease Control and Prevent (CDC) and New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) have loosened their guidelines surrounding COVID-19.  We are in the process of reducing layers of mitigation and revising our response plan to be more in line with those guidelines.

This means, that in addition to no longer requiring masks, students will be able to return to the lunchroom, and class cohorting, as well as social distancing, will no longer be necessary.  Building principals are working with facilities and food service regarding these changes.  We are very excited by this news because it signals the transition from pandemic to an endemic.  We anticipate changes to be in place by the week of March 21.  We look forward to sharing our plan with the community at the upcoming school board meeting on Tuesday, March 15 at 6:00 PM at Hampton Academy.  Additionally, it will also be posted on our website. Please see the Nurses’ Note attached for more information related to health and wellness.

We are pleased to share for your advanced planning that Winnacunnet High School Theatre presents You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown on March 18-20.  Please see the attached flyer for additional information.

Best of wishes to Detective Brandon Whitehead who leaves Adeline C. Marston School this week to become the new Hampton PD Canine Officer.  We look forward to welcoming Ian Connors who will be joining us later this month.
Remember to spring ahead this weekend!

Warmly,
Dr. Lois B. Costa
