Weekly Update 3/4/22

March 4, 2022

Dear Parents, Staff, and Families of SAU 90:

We hope that everyone is enjoying this winter break.  Whether you traveled afar or took advantage of all our beautiful state has to offer, it certainly was a nice time to be with family and friends.

Over the break, we received the following email and information from the Department of Education that we wanted to pass along to all of you:

On Friday, Feb. 25, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its requirement for face masks on school buses. Effective immediately, the CDC no longer requires the wearing of masks on buses or vans operated by public or private school systems, including early care and education child care programs. More information is available on the CDC’s website here.

We have been in conversation with First Student, and they are planning to uphold these guidelines.  We recognize that every family has the right to choose what they feel is best for them with regards to wearing masks on the bus and in the schools.  The district will support your decision and be sure to uphold your expectations.

Additionally, when we return, all schools will celebrate Read Across America in honor of Dr. Seuss!  As a school district, we celebrate literacy everyday with our commitment to those activities that support our students’ reading and writing skills.  This week is an opportunity to highlight this very important curriculum area that crosses over all others…. “The more you read, the more things you will know.  The more you learn, the more places you will go,” Dr. Seuss.

As a reminder, Tuesday, March 8 is our town’s voting day.  The polls are open from 7 AM until 8 PM at Winnacunnet High School.

See you on Monday!

Warmly,

Dr. Lois B. Costa

Superintendent
