Dear SAU 90 Staff and Families,

On Monday, report cards for the first trimester were made available to families through ALMA, our student information system.  Should you need any assistance accessing the portal, please be sure to reach out to our District Data Coordinator, Tim Smith at tsmith@sau90.org.  Should you have any questions about your child’s progress or program, you are welcome to contact the schools.  We pride ourselves on partnering with our parents in support of our students’ success.  Together, our children have the best chance of optimal learning and growth.

Over the past week, there have been a number of concerts and plays that our community have enjoyed.  Last week, we all enjoyed two concerts at the middle school.  On Monday evening, we held our band concert featuring all our talented middle school students who participate in instrument lessons under the direction of Mrs. Guay and on Wednesday evening, we held a beautiful holiday choral concert under the direction of Mrs. Reno.  It certainly has been a very joyful and festive time in our school district.  All of our children certainly brought a warm and special feeling of the season.  Special thanks to our talented staff and performers for providing us with these events that allow our community to come together!  It was so nice to be with one another in celebration of the holidays! This coming Monday evening, the Marston School will present the fifth grade play at Hampton Academy.  We look forward to this final community event as well.

Many of you are aware that there has been an increase in flus, colds, strep, stomach issues, and RSV in our community and around the nation.  We are noticing an up-tick in numbers of students who are absent or being sent home due to illness.  Some classes seem to be impacted more than others.  We kindly ask that if your child is sick with a fever, has a persistent cough or cold with congestion, that you seek medical attention. As much as we love having our students present every day, we must be sure that we are being mindful of our community.  The health and wellbeing of everyone is contingent upon everyone doing his/her part.

Finally, next week is the last week of school for the 2023 year!  It has been a wonderful start to the academic year thus far, and we are looking forward to finishing 2023 strong!  There are many special events planned along with holiday gatherings in the classrooms.  On Friday, December 22, students will be released early for the holiday break with a noon time dismissal for elementary students at an 11:00 AM dismissal for middle school students. In the spirit of the holiday season, let’s make next week the best it can be by spreading joy and kindness throughout our community!

Merrily,

Dr. Lois B. Costa
