Weekly Update

November 9, 2023

Dear SAU 90 Staff and Families,

Tomorrow, there is no school in observance of Veterans Day.  This federal holiday is observed annually to honor military veterans of the United States Armed Forces.  This day provides us with the opportunity to honor all of the service men and women in the area with our traditional assemblies and celebrations.  We pride ourselves on partnering with our friends at the American Legion Post 35 in Hampton along with Commander Berk Bennett.  It was a pleasure to honor our veterans through the activities, lessons, and assemblies in our schools this week.  In honor of this holiday, we thank all veterans for their service and pay tribute to all military personnel who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

With the wintery days ahead, we thought it would be a good time to remind you that our school board supports snow days. Last year, we balanced days off with keeping our calendar in check. The current calendar builds in five snow days. All school delays and closures would be communicated through our messaging system.  It is important that we have your current contacts.  Please be sure that your information is up to date.  If you are unsure, please contact your child’s school or stop by the office during parent conferences.

We are still seeking substitutes/guest teachers and custodians.  The teacher substitute rate is $110/day, and the para educator rate is $95/day.  If you love our children and are available during the week, we encourage you to apply.  We offer very flexible schedules and hope you will consider this opportunity.  If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

We invite you to share your ideas with us about how the district can offer resources, workshops, and information to you in your role as a parent, grandparent, and/or caregiver raising children in today’s complex world.  Together, we can support one another as we know it truly takes a village to raise a child.  The survey attached is aimed at determining the topics that most interest you.  There is also a section for you to add your thoughts and topics you would like the district to consider. Paper copies will also be available at parent conferences.  Link to Survey

As we enter the holiday season, please remember that our Outreach Worker, Emily Fixler, can assist families with community resources.  She can be reached at efixler@sau90.org or 603-926-2000, extension 726.  Our goal is to ensure that everyone has a happy, holiday this year.

Remember to thank a veteran over the long weekend!

Warmly,

Dr. Lois B. Costa

Superintendent of SAU 90
