Weekly Update

June 2, 2023

Dear SAU 90 Staff and Families,

Where has the time gone?  It is so hard to believe that we are on the final stretch of the school year with just two weeks left until we release our school community into the leisurely pace of summer!  It will be important to maintain routines in the coming days given the many events that happen at this time of the year.  Consistency and clear expectations help everyone to thrive when there are so many daily changes.  We know these days can be very exciting, but also very busy.  Please remind your children to eat a healthy breakfast, get a good night’s sleep, and to do their best each day so that we can all finish the year on a high note.  Additionally, we ask that all our adults be extra-kind to themselves during this time of year.  There is so much going on, and juggling everything can feel overwhelming.  Take it one day at a time and remember to take care of yourselves!  If we can help you in any way, please be sure to reach out to us.

We also want to congratulate our boys track team for their win at Wednesday’s meet.  As a result, they were named the regional champions for the season.  If you could have seen and heard the excitement of our teams as they pulled into the Academy parking lot on Wednesday evening, you would know that they had such exciting news to share.  They were beaming with pride and full of joy knowing that they had made such a huge accomplishment – Regional Champs!  The pride and excitement of their teamwork was certainly contagious. Congratulations to the coaches – Mr. Muldoon, Mrs. Bowen, and Mrs. Thompson on their winning season.  Both teams – girls and boys, did a tremendous job working together, running at their personal best, and being good sports.  We are so very proud of all of you and are happy to hear about your standings! Best of luck at the state meet this week!

Unfortunately, due to the weather, the Saturday PTA event, Party on the Park has been postponed.  The PTA is working hard at trying to reschedule this event when we return in the fall.  We wish to thank the PTA Board for all their work and efforts in trying to provide a wonderful culminating event, especially Erika York and Sarah Elliott who have helped to spearhead this celebration!

We have started a wonderful chain reaction…. A few months ago, School Moderator Mr. Jim Workman made a wonderful donation to our food service program in memory of his late mother, JoAnn Workman.  This has helped raised awareness in our community and state around food insecurities.  As a result, Oyster River Schools, where JoAnn worked, raised enough money to cover the balances in their food service program.  And, recently, we had our own student host a yard sale in support of our food service program and raised over $500.  Hampton Pride shining through and making a difference around the state!

For your information and planning, the YMCA will be hosting a before and after-school daycare program next year contingent upon enrollment.  If you are interested in having your child attend, we ask that you please review the attached flyer and reach out the YMCA.  Given the staffing needs, they are trying to prepare for the 2023-2024 school year.

Last but certainly not least, our Girls on the Run (GOTR) Teams will participate in their 5K race tomorrow morning at Memorial Field in Concord.  We wish them all the best as they cross the finish line and complete the program! Special thanks to all our coaches for supporting and helping to sustain this program. We could not do it without you!

Wishing you a great weekend ahead,

Proudly, Dr. Lois B. Costa

Superintendent of SAU 90
