Weekly Update

April 21, 2023

Dear Parents, Staff, and Families of SAU 90:

Tomorrow is Earth Day, and a great reminder to all of us the importance of protecting our environment, helping to restore damaged ecosystems, and living a more sustainable life.  On Tuesday, Hampton Academy hosted a spring clean-up day.  Over our spring break please take some time to remember to reduce, reuse, recycle, and invest in our planet every day!

It certainly has been a very busy week in the Hampton School District with many evening events, including Bring Your Child to Work Day for Seventh Grade, Grade 2 Concert, and the Art Show at the Lane Library.  This week, we feature Hampton Academy on our Facebook page.  Be sure to check out our posts which feature our students hard at work.

We have officially entered the testing window of the New Hampshire Statewide Assessment System (NHSAS).  Each year, students in grades three through eight participate in these English language arts and mathematics testing.  Additionally, students in grades five and eight will also participate in the science test.  Students at Hampton Academy participated in these assessments this past week.  The purpose of these tests is to measure students’ academic achievement and to support student learning.  Please refer to your school’s schedule regarding these upcoming assessments.  We kindly ask that students get a good night’s sleep, eat a nutritious breakfast, and arrive to school on time on the day of testing.  Your assistance and proactive planning will help to ensure better outcomes.  Thank you in advance.

Last call…the New Hampshire Department of Education wants to hear from staff, families, and community members in our school community.  The 603 Bright Futures Survey is available until April 28.  We are asking everyone to participate in this survey.  We greatly appreciate your feedback as we prepare for the 2023-2024 school year.

For your information, we are having technical issues with Channel 13.  We are working on resolving the issues as swiftly as possible.  All our videos are available on your YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@HamptonSchoolsSAU90   We apologize for any inconvenience.

When we return from the break, there will be a lot to look forward to with staff appreciation along with our sports programs, GOTR, field trips, transitional activities, and after-school clubs.  It’s sure to be an exciting time in the school year!  Next week, if you are planning to be around for the spring break, our Hampton PTA is pleased to offer parents a comedy night out at The Brook in Seabrook on Thursday, April 27 at 7:00 PM. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Enjoy the wonderful spring break ahead and see you in May!

Warmly,

Dr. Lois B. Costa

Superintendent
