Weekly Update

 April 14, 2023

Dear Parents, Staff, and Families of SAU 90:

This week at the Southeasters Superintendent’s Meeting, we discussed the importance of districts working together as we continue to expand our safety plans and protocols. There will be times when it will be important for us to lean on each other during times of crisis, and having support from neighboring districts will be instrumental. We are looking at regionalized training specifically supported by the National Center for School Safety and developing a Seacoast Crisis Response Team. We recognize the need to work together in this endeavor as we continue to enhance our district safety plans. Our schools’ physical and social emotionally safety is central to our daily work and continues to be our greatest priority.

Tomorrow, the Seacoast School of Technology is pleased to announce a Trades Appreciation Event from 10 AM – 2 PM. This is located on 40 Linden Street in Exeter. The timing is right on point as next week, seventh grade students will have the opportunity to visit the Seacoast School of Technology on Friday, April 21st.  Additionally, Thursday April 20th is ‘Bring Your Son/Daughter to Work’ Day at Hampton Academy for seventh grade. The purpose of these events is to introduce students to career options that interest them and help our students to develop employability skills.

As mentioned in our letters, the New Hampshire Department of Education wants to hear from staff, families, and community members in our school community. The 603 Bright Futures Survey is available from now until April 28. We are asking everyone to please set aside some time to participate in this offering. While so much has changed since we have returned from COVID-19, it is critical to understand how we have all been impacted and how to best move forward for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. Thank you in advance for your participation in this survey.

This coming Tuesday, the PTA Meets in the Community Room at Hampton Academy at 7:00 PM. During the April vacation week, there will be a Comedy Night on Thursday, April 27 in conjunction with the fundraising week at The Brook in Seabrook. Please see the attached flyer for more information. Special thanks to all our volunteers for making the Week of Wonder so successful at Centre School.

This week, I had the pleasure of spending some time with the Marston students and staff. It has been a wonderful week of learning beginning with a school-wide morning meeting, Girls on the Run, Weather Presentation, a visit from Officer Whitehead and Corporal Icky, a Conservation Presentation, field trips to the Rochester Opera House and Bowl-A-Rama, and Band/Chorus Presentation. Be sure to check out our Facebook post.

As a reminder at the March School Board Meeting, it was announced that the students’ final day of school will be Friday, June 16. Students will have an early release with Hampton Academy releasing at 11:30 AM and Centre School and Marston School releasing at 12:00 noon.

Also, for your planning purposes the final assembly for our eighth graders will take place on Thursday, June 15 at 6:00 PM on the back lawn of Hampton Academy.

In partnership,

Dr. Lois B. Costa
