Weekly Update

April 7, 2023

Dear Parents, Staff, and Families of SAU 90:

As previously mentioned in our letters, the New Hampshire Department of Education wants to hear from staff, families, and community members in our school community.  The 603 Bright Futures Survey is available from now until April 28.  We are asking everyone to please set aside some time to participate in this offering.  While so much has changed since we have returned from COVID-19, it is critical to understand how we have all been impacted and how to best move forward for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.  Thank you in advance for your participation in this survey.

Please mark your calendar for Thursday, May 11 when we will join SAU 21 for the premiere of “Anxious Nation” sponsored by Seacoast Mental Health.  This documentary explores and captures the many faces and facets of anxiety.  This feature-length documentary takes a deep look into the crisis of anxiety and mental health in America, especially its impact on kids (ages 10-26) and families.  The event will take place at Winnacunnet High School with doors opening at 5:00 PM.  The documentary will be presented from 5:30 – 7:00 PM with a panel discussion to follow.  For more information, please visit  https://anxiousnation.com/the-film/

We would like to thank the PTA for the sold-out performance of the Harlem Wizards this past Monday evening.  What a wonderful game that featured our Hampton Hoopsters! We truly appreciate the folks behind the scenes who put forth the hard work in bringing this to our community.  Special thanks to the PTA Board and Coordinators, especially President Jen McClelland, Events Team - Sarah Elliott, and Erika York, for all their efforts.  Additionally, we recognize the eighth-grade students, along with Ellen Morrissey, Andrea Dutton, and Kelley Burtch, who helped with the concession stand.  Thank you – thank you… You all make a difference, and we are grateful!

A reminder that the PTA meets the third Tuesday of the month at Hampton Academy Library/Media Center starting at 7:00 PM and streams live on Facebook.  These meetings typically last approximately an hour and are informative, productive opportunities for collaboration between our families and the schools.  At this time, there are many open positions that will need to be filled for next year.  We hope you will consider these critical postings and support this wonderful organization that benefits our students and schools.  Please be sure to mark your calendars as the Hampton PTA will be hosting Casino Night at The Brook during April vacation.  Additionally, there will be a comedy evening on Thursday, April 27, for parents. Remember, a portion of the proceeds are given back to our schools!  Party on the Park will be held on June 3.  Look for more information coming soon! The next PTA meeting is on April 18.

Next week, is Centre School’s Week of Wonder!  There are many afterschool activities planned for our students including baseball, yoga, slime-making, karate, baseball skills, art, cookie decorating, dance, library skills, and bead necklace making.  Special thanks to all our volunteers for their assistance.  Also, next week, is Centre School’s Celebration of Learning and book fair!  Be sure to check out this week’s Facebook post which features our fantastic students!

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend ahead!

Warmly,

Dr. Lois B. Costa

Superintendent
