Weekly Update

March 24, 2023

Dear Parents, Staff, and Families of SAU 90:

Spring has arrived, and what a busy week it has been in our schools.  Thank you to everyone who supported our aspiring actors and entertainers while attending the theater in Hampton this last week.  Whether you attended the play at Hampton Academy or Winnacunnet High School last weekend or the Variety Show last night, we are sure you enjoyed a wonderful performance by our talented students. We are so proud of all of them!

On Monday, March 20, report cards were issued to all students.  Should you need any assistance logging in or accessing Alma, please be sure to reach out to our Data Specialist, Mr. Tim Smith.  He can be reached at 603-926-4560 or tsmith@sau90.org.  This past Wednesday, March 22, parents had the opportunity to meet with classroom teachers and staff to discuss their child’s progress.  Remember, should you have questions at any time, please be sure to reach out to your child’s teacher or school.  We are all here to ensure your child’s success!  We value the partnership with our parents on behalf of our beloved students.

This past Thursday, the Safety and Security Task Force of SAU 21 and SAU 90 met with our local First Responders to continue our ongoing efforts around school safety.  During the meeting, we reviewed current initiatives and priorities related to interventions, community outreach, and parent communications. Discussions focused on ALICE training, emergency operation plans, and homeland security audits.  School leaders had the opportunity to work through a tabletop exercise alongside our local first responders.  There was team time by school and by district, with time for debriefing as a collective unit.  As part of our work, we considered planning strengths, needs and concerns, upcoming exercises, and next steps in planning.  We are grateful for our community partnerships as we expand our knowledge of these critically important topics.

We are asking that all families, staff, and community members complete the 603 Bright Futures Survey from the Department of Education.  This annual survey will help to ensure our schools are providing high-quality, rigorous learning experiences.  Your input and feedback are important and will help to guide our efforts to improve our schools.  Thank you in advance…

As a reminder, next Wednesday, March 29, beginning at 6:30 PM, we are offering the first of a three-part series of how we can work together to foster a healthy culture of belonging where our students can grow and thrive with NH Listens.  NH Listens is a community engagement initiative of the Carsey School of Public Policy at the University of New Hampshire.  They aim to build, strengthen, and sustain infrastructure in our communities by building relationships and fostering inclusion.  This meeting will take place in the Community Room at Hampton Academy.  Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Enjoy the first weekend of spring, and here’s to warmer days ahead…

In partnership,

Dr. Lois B. Costa

Superintendent
