Weekly Update

June 3, 2022

Dear SAU 90 Staff and Families,

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to attend the eighth-grade trip to Quebec City.  It was such a pleasure to be with such a fantastic group of students and staff.  Highlights of the trip included a Ghost Tour, a guided tour of the Citadelle, a visit to the Morrin Centre where students participated in a Life as a Prison Tour, an interactive presentation on the Plains of Abraham, Dinner at a Sugar Shack, a tour of Albert Gilles Copper Museum with the opportunity to make our own copper art piece, and a walk over the bridge at Montmorency Falls.  Additionally, the accommodations were in the heart of the city at Hotel Clarendon where everything was just a short walk to all of the museums, restaurants, and sights.  Speaking of restaurants, if you have not had the opportunity to taste their crepes, you must! The food was incredibly delicious and authentic to the culture of the city.  Special thanks to Mrs. Willcox for organizing this wonderful experience for all of us.  Additionally, we are grateful to Mrs. Nadeau and SRO Zachary Teranzoni, and Robert Delorie from Students Love Travel.  Please enjoy the pictures posted on Facebook along with the video on this week’s Shark News!  Track team

We also want to congratulate our boys track team for their win at Wednesday’s meet.  As a result, they have named the regional champions for the season.  I had the opportunity to serendipitously meet with the team as I was leaving Hampton Academy that evening when the bus pulled into the school. I was greeted by an enthusiastic group of students and coaches who were “over the moon.”  The pride and excitement of their teamwork was contagious. Congratulations to the coaches – Mr. Muldoon, Mrs. Bowen, and Mrs. Thompson on their winning season.  Both teams – girls and boys, did a tremendous job of working together, running at their personal best, and being good sports.  We are proud of all of you and are happy to hear about your standings!

And, in case you did not hear the news, Mrs. Bonnie Heath, teacher at Hampton Academy has moved on to the top ten teachers in the state for Teacher of the Year.  On May 18, she had the opportunity to attend the Governor’s Mansion/Bridges House in Concord, where she along with teacher of the year nominees gathered to share their work.  The forty-four nominees were nominated because they stood out among their peers for making a difference in the lives of their students.  Congratulations to Mrs. Heath! Attached is the article posted earlier this week.  .

A reminder that this Saturday, the PTA is hosting a spring family event: Party on the Park from 5-9 PM.  There will be food trucks, live music, and entertainment.  This looks to be a great way to end the school year.  Tickets are on sale in advance or at the “door.”  Just one correction to the newsletter from last week, for the 2022-2023 school year, Jen McClelland will continue as President and Jodie Strickland will serve as Vice President. We hope you will join us on Saturday!

The USDA free meal program will end on June 17, the last day of this school year.  Beginning next year, we will be going back to PAID, REDUCED, and FREE meals for students.  Applications are required and we would like them to be completed by June 15th.  Meal Applications can be found online  or at the front office of each school building.  For your convenience, a form is attached to the letter.  If you have any questions, please contact Mary Borg our Food Service Director at 603-926-9826.

Wishing you a great weekend ahead,

Proudly, Dr. Lois B. Costa
