Weekly Update

May 20, 2022

Dear SAU 90 Staff and Families,

Our schools continue to be a hub of activity and learning as we close out another week.  Students are participating in a number of clubs, field trips, and extended opportunities including Jump Rope Club, Tuck Museum, Bowling, Lane Library Mobile Petting Zoo, Minecraft, track, softball, baseball, step-up day, Memorial Day Assemblies, and Memorial Day Weekend in Quebec.  We are currently working with the Lion’s Club on vision screenings for all students.  Additionally, step up dates have been planned for our rising third graders and sixth graders.  There is so much excitement in the air as we bring closure to the school year!

Students continue to participate in end of year assessments.  These are used to monitor student progress and to inform our instructional programs. Remember in order for students to perform at their best, it is important for students to get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive to school on time. Your support and attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.

We wish to thank everyone who participated in the Caps for a Cure campaign this past week.  Kailyn Costa shared that we raised over $939 which will be donated to A Cure Starts Now in support of our own Super Hero, Evan.  As part of this special day, Super Hero Evan took over for Principal Lannan.  The first order of business was special meetings with classmates where an executive order was made and recess was granted for Mrs. Lyford’s class!  All and all, it was a highly successful day celebrating our very own Super Hero!

Parents of preschoolers and incoming kindergarten students have the opportunity to participate in the Waterford Upstart program.  The purpose of this partnership with the Department of Education is to allow New Hampshire families free online access to basic skills needed in reading, math, and science.  Participating families receive a computer.  Please see the attached links for more information about summer and fall programs.

The USDA free meal program will end on June 17, the last day of this school year.  Beginning next year, we will be going back to PAID, REDUCED, and FREE meals for students.  Applications are required and we would like them to be completed by June 15th.  Meal Applications can be found online at SAU90 or at the front office of each school building.  For your convenience, a form is attached to the letter.  If you have any questions, please contact Mary Borg our Food Service Director at 603-926-9826.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead!

Warmly, Dr. Lois B. Costa

Superintendent of SAU 90
