Superintendent Weekly Newsletter

April 17, 2026

Dear Parents, Staff, and Families of SAU 90:

During our Southeasters Superintendent’s Meeting, we discussed the importance of districts working together as we continue to expand our safety plans and protocols.  There will be times when it will be important for us to lean on each other during times of crisis, and having support from neighboring districts will be instrumental.  This summer we will host a regional training for ALICE, a proactive, civilian-focused response program designed to teach individuals how to survive critical incidents. Police, fire, and school officials from the region are invited to attend. We recognize the need to work together in this endeavor as we continue to enhance our district safety plans.  Our schools’ physical and social emotional safety is central to our daily work and continues to be our greatest priority.

The PTA is gearing up for a car wash fundraiser April 30 - May 3, and a Color Run on May 31.  Stay tuned for more details!  The PTA also offers free fingerprinting for any parent or caregiver that joins the PTA.  What a wonderful and generous offer to our families.  Fingerprinting must be completed every four years.  If you are not a member, this is your reminder to join!

I had the pleasure of spending some time with the Marston students and staff this week.  We have some wonderful extensions of learning happening in the including our annual Wax Museum, Girls on the Run, Nature Club, and a field trip to the Boston Museum of Science. It is exciting to see such progress from our grades three through five students since the beginning of the school year.

Hampton Academy and Marston students were featured on MWUR this week.  What a great opportunity!

Next week on April 22 we celebrate Earth Day! This is a reminder to protect our environment, help to restore damaged ecosystems, and live a more sustainable life. Please take some time to remember to reduce, reuse, recycle, and invest in our planet every day!

In partnership,

Dr. Lois B. Costa
