Dear SAU 90 Families and Staff,
This past week at our School Board Meeting we discussed the safety and security of our students and staff, which is our top priority. We want to ensure you are well-informed about our emergency protocols and how we can work together to keep our school community safe.
As part of our commitment to safety, our district employs several layers of security to maintain a safe learning environment:
ALICE Protocol: All staff and Hampton Police are trained in the ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) option-based response.
Secure Facilities: Buildings are locked during the day, monitored by perimeter cameras, and require all visitors to sign in and wear badges.
Emergency Personnel: Each school has a full-time School Resource Officer, a registered nurse, and CPR-certified staff.
Planning & Audits: We meet regularly with Police and Fire Departments to conduct drills and routine safety audits.
This year, we have developed a district team which is working in collaboration with our Student Resource Officers to ensure that we are developing common language, processes, and procedures that unify our district.
To ensure that we can reach you quickly, please keep your contact and medical information updated in the ALMA parent portal. Be sure to share our emergency plan with at least two of your listed emergency contacts. Make sure your child knows who is authorized to pick them up. Ensure your child knows their home address and a contact phone number. If you need assistance with your ALMA account, please contact your child’s school directly. Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our schools safe.
Kaia Gardner, 4th grader at Marston School, was recently selected as one of the top 20 finalists in the America’s Most Artistic Child competition. This national recognition reflects not only her dedication and creativity, but also the support she has received from her teachers and the school community. Voting through this link begins Monday, February 16 and will support her advancement in the competition. Congratulations, Kaia - the Hampton School District is proud of you!
Warm regards,
Dr. Lois Costa
Superintendent of Schools
