Dear SAU 90 Staff and Families,
Another significant week of learning in our schools. Marston School held their annual Spelling Bee on Wednesday, with Victoria McSweeney emerging as the last speller standing! Zoe Hartman and Sophie Glos were the runners-up. Congratulations to all students for an outstanding job representing their classes. Hampton Academy will hold their Spelling Bee next week and we are excited to see who will represent Hampton Academy in the regional competition.
We are looking to add substitutes to our pool. If you are interested in working in a great place and love children, this is the job for you. We were pleased to see former alumni return to their alma mater over their winter break. We welcome college students and are willing to work around their schedules. The current daily rate for substitutes in our district is $120/day for teachers and $98/day for para educators. Our application can be found here.
Over my years in the district, there have been many Teacher of the Year candidates honored by the New Hampshire Department of Education. Most recently, Bonnie Heath was a top ten finalist. Other finalists in our district included: Michele Croteau, Elizabeth Henderson, Sean Tierney, and Gus Carlson. The purpose of the program is to select a teacher who can speak for and bring energy to the teaching profession. Anyone can nominate an outstanding teacher by using this link on or before February 5, 2026.
Thank you to Crystal Hardy, Hampton parent and community member, for presenting a $1,560 donation from the Seacoast Area Crop Hunger Walk, which raised over $50,000. This money will be used to help students and families with food insecurities. We are very grateful for this generous donation.
There is some winter weather expected on Sunday and Monday. We have a call with the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management this afternoon. We will do our best to notify you as soon as we have more information as it pertains to the impact on our school day.
Stay safe and warm,
Dr. Lois B. Costa
Superintendent of SAU 90
