January Newsletter 2022

Dear Hampton Academy Families,

Happy New Year!

We use the Apptegy system for sending voice and/or text messages to your computer, home phone or cell phone.  In case of emergencies, school closures and updates, this communication tool can be activated.  As a reminder, to utilize the full functionality of this program, we must have updated home, cell and email contact information.  If you have any recent changes, please be sure to let us know as soon as possible.

Information concerning school closure and early dismissal procedures can be found on the Hampton Academy website. In case of cancellation, you will be notified at 6:00 AM.  On occasion, school opening will be delayed for two hours to 9:40 AM instead of 7:40 AM.  Early dismissal may be at 11:30 AM instead of 2:20 PM.

Report cards were issued on Monday, December 13.   As always, we encourage you to stay in contact with your child’s teacher to ensure your child makes optimal growth and progress. The Afterschool Academic Assistance program has resumed.   If you would like your child to participate in this opportunity to get homework done, receive help with organization and study skills, please let your child’s teacher know so a permission form can be sent home.  Late bus transportation is available for students on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.  If you have any questions, please call our office at 926-2000.

The Ski Club starts on Friday, January 7.  We have approximately one hundred students participating in this popular program.  We will be using e-mail to communicate with families regarding updates and cancellations.  Ski equipment can be dropped off in the first floor team room on the mornings of Ski Club.  Remember to label everything!  A chaperone meeting will be held that day in the dining hall at 1:15 PM, prior to leaving for the mountain.

The Hampton School Board is in the process of working with the Hampton Budget Committee to review the proposed 2022-2023 Hampton Schools’ Budget. There is a public hearing on January 13th, at Hampton Academy, at 7:00PM. The school’s deliberative session is February 7th, 7:00PM, in the Academy gymnasium. The Town deliberative session will be held at Hampton Academy on February 5, 8:00AM-5:00PM in the Hampton Academy gymnasium. The Hampton School Budget will be on the March 8 election ballot for voter’s consideration.  The elections will be held at WHS in the dining hall.

The Lane Library will have the PTA Reflections submissions on display from January 5-January 31.   There is no school January 17, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  Please check the website calendar for upcoming events and games. The School Board meets on January 11, at 6:00 PM, at Hampton Academy.  The PTA meeting is scheduled for January 18, in the Hampton Academy dining hall, at 7:00 PM.

We welcome the new year and all the challenges and possibilities it brings.  As we set goals for the second part of our school year we hope that 2022 will bring good health and happiness to all of our students and their families.
