Language Arts

  • Foundational Skills- decode grade level words, determine meaning of unfamiliar words, read accurately and fluently

  • Literature- make connections, analyze characters, compare and contrast themes, topics and point of view, make inferences, identify the significance of story elements, summarize text

  • Informational - show understanding of content-based vocabulary, cite evidence from a text, integrate information from multiple sources, determine the main idea

  • Speaking and Listening- engage in collaborative discussions, listen attentively, use formal and informal language appropriately

  • Writing – fictional narrative, informational article, persuasive essay
